Just one more thought before I leave. Are you absolutely sure that your phone is connecting thru your home router? Does your phone still work if your power down your router?

Follow this tutorial but replace references of Safe mode with Safe Mode with Networking (Option three only) - Safe Mode - Start Windows 8 in

It's my smartphone. I wasn't talking about a landline or anything else (sorry for the confusion). And yes, I am absolutely sure that it is connected.

Smartphone? That's quite different. So, how do you establish connectivity from your smartphone to your wireless router? Please explain (Sorry I can let this go just yet).

I go to settings > Wi-Fi, then my phone scans for the available wireless networks, I select mine, enter the password and press connect. It connects almost immediately. Alternatively I can press the WPS button on my phone and then on my router and it connect after a few seconds.

    Thank you for assisting me!

Now about booting my laptop in safe mode with networking. I just did that and tried to connect wirelessly to my router. Entered the password and immediately the same message appeared: ""Can't connect to this network".

I have just had a look at your screenshot for your router settings and I noticed that it said the following:

Maximum Number of Accessing Devices: 2

Can you change this number to 20? and then try again

By any chance have you tried rebooting the router? (Unplug power, wait 30 seconds, plug back in) I know it seems like it shouldn't matter since your phone connects OK but try it anyway. With wifi problems, the first thing to try should be rebooting the router.
