Do you have any other wireless devices that can connect OK and are currently working through your router?

I never setup a wireless phone but are there any similarities in the connection properties between your phone and your laptop? Is it possible to compare that information? Also, what is the make/model number of your router?

Try to boot the machine in Safe mode with networking and then try to connect the machine. It may be possible for a third party application to be conflicting

Follow this tutorial but replace references of Safe mode with Safe Mode with Networking (Option three only) - Safe Mode - Start Windows 8 in

Also, maybe you can eduacte me a bit more on why you have to connect your wireless phone to your own wireless router? All my phones do not require that type of connection. Is this a Skye service or something similar?

If that fails to work then I would advise resetting your router to factory settings and see if that resolves any issues

OK, we now have two different forum members trying to assist but sending you in two different directions so I am going to yield to Shadowjk and let him work with you "one-on-one." Good luck.

No... that's OK... really. Give your methods a go and see if you can help the OP. I'm perfectly OK with your intervention. You may have some better ideas because I was going to take the slow and steady approach (eg, collect every possible detail) and if you can "cut to the quick" and get him working faster then that's what its all about.

To be honest I don't know know... and I also don't know much about wireless networks in general. Though I know for sure that both my phone and my laptop recognise b/g/n wireless standards, encryptions such as WEP, WPA, WPA2, PSK, and also both can connect using WPS.

My router is a HUAWEI, model HG655B.
