VPN Issue - Connects on Win 7 but not Win 8

    Hi All

I have a strange problem at hand.

I have 2 PC's, on the SAME IP range and the same network. The one is a Win 7 Pro machine and the other one a Windows 8 Pro machine

Both connect to a VPN network using the SAME Cisco VPN Client

Now BOTH connect fine to the VPN (status on Cisco VPN client says Connected).

    Here is the problem:

The Windows 7 machine can access and ping to a local address on the VPN, nl 192.165.34.20.
The Windows 8 machine, however, cannot ping to that same address, although it is connected to the VPN.

I have done a CLEAN install on the windows 8 machine and have NO antivirus programs - Windows firewall is also disabled.

I have run the Client on the Windows 8 machine in various compatibility modes, but no luck..

    Help Please !?

    Thanks

From the article's I've read about this problem the Cisco VPN isn't compatible with Windows 8, many have complained about it and the only solution appears to be going to the free ShrewSoft VPN client 2.1.7.

    Windows 8 and (Cisco) VPN

Verified! The free ShrewSoft VPN client 2.1.7 http://www.shrew.net/download/vpn/vp....7-release.exe will work on Windows8 Developer Preview and will import the CISCO .pcf file

Thank you chev65. I believe you are right. I will just have to wait for Cisco to upgrade their client

    Thank you for your reply
