    Thanks Chev 65
There were two downloads that met your criteria I chose the largest,
    This one:
    File name: Wireless_15.8.0_e64.exe
    Version: 15.8.0
    Date: 05/23/2013
    Status: Latest
    Size: 83.93 MB
    Language: English
    Operating Systems: Windows 8*, Windows 8, 32-bit*, Windows 8, 64-bit*

This one had the same date I did not choose it:
    File name: Wireless_15.8.0_De64.exe
    Version: 15.8.0
    Date: 05/23/2013
    Status: Latest
    Size: 24.67 MB
    Language: English
    Operating Systems: Windows 8*, Windows 8, 32-bit*, Windows 8, 64-bit*

The adapter properties now shows a version of 15.8.0.
Time will tell if this improves performance.

    Kaybee327,
Those IP addresses were set up by my ISP, Verizon, I think that I need to keep them.
I don't have a correlation of the dropout with any other electrical activity. Not the wireless phone or the microwave. Further, another laptop, Dell, on the same home network running Vista never had this problem. Nor did visitors (sons and daughters ) connecting their laptops to the home network.

    Thanks

    Hi,
The ASUS Windows 8 laptop has been up and connected since the Intel Centrino Wireless N2230 driver
was updated on Friday the 21st of June at 3:55. This may not be a long enough test but it looks like success!
Chev 65 your advice was invaluable. How did you know that the version 15.5.6.48 driver was a non WHQL
    driver? (Your post # 9)
    Thanks to all

Because the WHQL drivers always come with the virtual debugging adaptor which is used to create a hosted wireless network. When I don't see that I know the driver isn't Windows approved and probably not up to date. I'm glad your problem is solved.

I neglected to post the successful conclusion of this problem. I wanted to wait awhile to be certain that the problem did not return. The driver update did correct the problem. I have not had any dropped connections since the update. Here are the details:

Updated Wireless driver on 6/21/2013 present version 15.5.6.48

    That's good to hear Frank.

Windows usually will install the latest drivers during Windows update, the problem is that it doesn't always have the most recent drivers from the manufacture's site.
