No internet connection when main PC is turned off.

Hi everyone, I am currently having an issue with my network. Basically, every time my main PC is shut off, the wireless will drop it's internet connection. Devices will still connect to the wireless, but there will be no internet connection.

This had happened before, about 5 months ago, and I had fixed it by unchecking the TCP/IPv6 in my network adapter but now the same issue has come up. My main PC is wired direct to the router, which is a D-link DIR-655. As long as my PC is on, then the internet will work fine. If it is off, then at some point the connection will get dropped and not come back on until my PC is turned on again. Any help on this issue would be great.

Control Panel/network sharing, right click on the network connections and choose properties, then sharing - maybe something there will help.

I have the same router, it will require a reset in order to work as it should, you will need to set up the wireless settings and type in the DNS servers after resetting the router.

Unchecking IPv6 is not advised for any reason, you are only masking another problem by doing that.

I enabled IPv6 again, and went into the router settings and there was a newer firmware version so I upgraded to that, which reset the router and it still turns the internet off when the PC is off.

So it seems if my wired PC is off and I disconnect the ethernet cable from the router, the internet comes back on for the other PC's and devices and works perfectly, so I am thinking it has something to do with the ethernet port and the way it is set up. At least for now whenever I turn off my PC I can just unplug it as a work around, but it is a very odd problem and I haven't been able to find a whole lot of people with similar issues.

You might want to check and make sure that the modem is plugged into the correct "WAN" port on the router, everything else uses the LAN ports but I'm sure you knew that.

Is your pc wired into the WAN port of the router or into one of the numbered jacks?

It was wired onto the number 2 jack, removed all other cables and put it in number 1 and still does the same thing.
