Router problems.

I've had this problem for a while now. Simply put, Modem to Computer Ethernet connection works just fine. My Belkin N+ Wireless Router F5D8235-4 v2 worked ever since I got it with no problems at all just randomly didn't want to connect to the internet. Said ""Ethernet" didn't have a valid ipconfig". I borrowed a friends old wireless router, Netgear 54mbps wireless router WGR614 v7-vc, and the problem it showed for me on that is that the DNS server is not responding. How can I fix this problem? I can access the Netgear router no problem but I tried several ip in the address bar to get to my belkin settings and no go.

p.s The internet works AS SOON as I plug in my belkin router but as soon its "starting" up it quickly disconnects.

I've tried all the hard resets I could do. Even the 30-30-30 rule. I do have a firmware update available I think but to update it I have to reach my router settings. I just can't access it some how.

Try unplugging the router from the modem then reset the modem and wait for the lights to come up and stop blinking, then plug the modem into the routers WAN port and wait a bit for the lights to stop blinking, the Belkin router should be at 192.168.2.1

Looks to me like the problem isn't related to the router but this machine seems to be having problems.

Do you have any type of third party anti virus software installed?

Have you tried starting in safe mode with networking to determine if the problem is caused by an installed software?

If you can post a screen shot of the ipconfig/all it would be helpful. :)

I actually just reformatted my computer. I took Screens of both ipconfig/all for when I am connected straight to the modem and when it's connected to router. The second one is the router.

It appears as if the router isn't picking up the modem as it should be.

Try resetting the modem allowing the lights to stabilize then plug the modem into the routers WAN port.

Still nothing. The lights for Modem and Internet on my router are suppose to be blue but they keep flashing Orange.

It looks like the modem is not allowing multiple IPs to go through hence the router is not working the way it should. Check that DHCP is enabled on both modem and router.

Connect pc to modem and get into it's firmware. Then connect to the router and check the setting in it.
