Username and Password to NAS

Have been trying to connect to a Sony FSV-E1 NAS box from Windows 8 but for some reason
I cannot get it to except my username and password.
The system works when using Windows XP using the same username and password so I know the system is working.

I can get access to the control panel on the Sony and enter the Administrator username and password which
then allows me to use the control panel and change or setup new users and folders.

I think it may be something to do with the way Windows 8 transmits the username and password.

Anybody got any ideas as am stuck.

Thanks for any help and I like the forum as have already solve a few problems without needing to ask
a question.

Try making some adjustments to the lanman server and encryption settings on the Windows 8 machine then see if you can get into this NAS. The link below shows the required settings. :)

Thanks Chev65 for the info and have tried the changes you suggest but no luck am afraid I will just have to keep trying.

Will let you know if I get it to work.

More info.

Although the username is correct the message says it is incorrect and to try again, so I think windows is sending the username with added info for some reason.

Thanks again for the Help.

Try using the IP of the NAS instead, \\192.168.x.x etc.
