We re-set it three times so far, same result.

Will try to install with a clean Win8 (non-HP).

Does safe mode with networking use the Realtek LAN driver as well or it uses a generic one? Since safe mode uses basic/generic drivers for all devices.

Try that. But it seems the HP F11 Recovery (also accessible from within Windows) can do a minimal recovery with no additional programs, just as the clean install would. I didn't know this either some time ago.

I have the same Problem with my ProBook 4540s. I am connected to the Access Point and it looks like it is not the cause - wifi on tablet works great always.
On the ProBook 4540s WLan Drops with no reason, I can not find the cause for the Problem. Each time connection is lost, it gives this error(4921 below). I have installed newest Bios for my System (f.43 at the moment), installed latest WLAN Driver (its a Combo Pack, the Device is VQF-RT3290), so Realtek 3290, sp63302.exe
    IPv6 is off.
Power Management for Wifi is off.
    LAN is off.

When I manually configured IP adress to 192.168.1.x and placed as a Standard Gateway and manually entered DSN Servers, the Problem happend is not so often.

Error Message (Source: Tcpip, Event ID: 4291):
The network adapter with hardware address 1C-__-__-7F-BD-__ has indicated packet coalescing capability without indicating support for one or more prerequisite receive filter capabilities (IPv4 0x00000000).

Maybe the next Problem has the same source (Source: Tcpip, Event ID: 4230):
TCP/IP has chosen to restrict the congestion window for several connections due to a network condition. This could be related to a problem in the TCP global or supplemental configuration and will cause degraded throughput.

Is it an ACPI? Maybe someone has already found a solution...
