    there is a setting in the adapter hardware, power management tab, uncheck allow computer to turn off to save power... see it it helps...

    Most likely the only way to to fix this problem is to make sure that the driver for the Qualcomm Atheros AR5B125, is a Windows 8 approved WHQL driver.

    If this was a WHQL driver then this machine should be reconnecting after going to sleep.

    That router is a bit or a relic also so updating the firmware may help but you need to know the version number of the router. This router may not be capable of working correctly with Windows 8 and it's only a wireless G router, so upgrading would potentially improve your connection speeds by 6 times and most likely would eliminate the problem.

    You need to check the revision number but there is newer firmware.
