System loses network/internet connectivity, blank screens

    Hi,

My brother has a Win 8 Pro PC with an ASRock Extreme 4, GTX 570SC, 650W PSU, 16GB RAM (2133), running two monitors @ 1920x1080. I built this system for him about a year ago. He has a 120gb SSD too and a DVD burner.

A few weeks ago the system started disconnecting from the Internet and his home network. It also started losing all connection with both monitors, which dropped into stand by. Audio would continue for a few seconds, stutter, and stop and the PC would have to be powered off to recover.

These two symptoms occur randomly and at different times.

In regard to the graphics card, we ran Furmark and could get it to fail every time, so we took the card back to retailer for replacement. They tested it for 3 days and said the card is fine.

We replaced the 570 with a 550 Ti while the 570 was being checked out, and no further problems with have occurred since then. This is about week it has been going fine.

The only difference between the two cards in the 570 uses 2 PCI connections whereas the 550 Ti uses only 1.

After replacing the video card the network problems still exist.

So I'm a little lost as to what might be the problem, and how to track it down.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Tanya

It almost sounds like a power supply problem but can't really guess at that from here, intermittent network problems are not so easy to solve, assuming the Op system is not corrupted and still intact, have you tried clearing the cmos?

I haven't tried clearing CMOS. I'll give that a go..

I insisted that the supplier take a "closer" look at the graphics card, and lo and behold, they have found a fault and are going to replace it. Perhaps the two issues were just a coincidence.

His power supply is fairly new, I have a PSU tester, next time I'm there I'll check it out.

    thanks for your help.
