Internet online and offline at the same time

A picture is worth a thousand words, so I attach a picture below.

The Desktop Apps (Firefox, Chrome, ping.exe etc) can connect to the internet. But the Metro Apps (Weather, Maps, News, Sports, Finance etc) can not connect to the internet because there is a text "OFFLINE" at the upper right of the apps. There is no any connection in the right side bar (the charm bar).

How can I put a connection into that right side bar?

    Thanks

Do you have the same problem when connecting using the Intel Pro Wireless NIC?

I have seen this problem before but I'd have to see a screen shot of the ipconfig/all from this machine in order to get a better idea of what the problem might be.

No. If the Intel Pro Wireless NIC is enabled, it can access WiFi hotspot in public area, and both the Desktop and Metro apps can connect to the internet.

In that case the problem can only be with the Sierra drivers which should be updated. In fact if those drivers were Windows 8 approved then you should be seeing the Msoft virtual mini port driver which is used for setting up a hosted wireless network.

For some reason it appears that you entered a bunch of DNS servers into the WINS settings, there is no reason to do this that I know of so you might try removing those entries. And blocking out the first part of the IP isn't required in this case. You should only be concerned about your WAN IP address which doesn't show up here.

If the Intel Pro Wireless works correctly then why not use it?
