'Wireless' setting doesn't appear in the Change PC Setting

I've got a Lenovo all-in-one 64 bit PC. When I click on Change PC Settings in the Settings charm the 'Wireless' option is missing. It appears exactly as expected on my laptop - also a 64bit windows 8 machine.

Anyone any idea what's going on?
(My bluetooth mouse and keyboard are working as is my wireless LAN connection, so it's clearly working but I can't change anything).

Does this wireless NIC show up in Device Manager under Network Adaptors with the driver installed?

I'm not sure which model of Lenovo we are working with but have you tried Windows update Center of the Lenovo site for driver updates?

It should be showing up under Settings, then Network.

Hi chev65. Thanks for helping.

The wireless NIC does show up in Device Manager and is working fine in terms of internet access etc. What I want to do is control the bluetooth settings and can't find any anywhere on my machine! They don't show up in any search even though my mouse and keyboard are bluetooth and working fine.

Its a Lenovo Ideacenter B320 and I can't find anything useful or relevant on the Lenovo site.

Here are pictures of what I've got (and therefore what I'm missing)

Bluetooth devices aren't supposed to show up in the list for wireless connections.

The Bluetooth adaptors should be showing up in Device Manager and you should be able to adjust them in Device Manager or the Control panel.

I did a fresh format and install of Windows 8 64 Bit Pro. Sorry but I couldn't live without a start button so I have installed the Start8 start menu which is great. I try sometimes not to use it but find metro frustrating to find programs as I have many. I will use Metro for apps only and desktop of serious computing.
Thanks guys. Bluetooth adaptors aren't showing up in Device Manager and the only thing I understand to connect to in Control Panel is Devices and Printers and it's not showing up there either - though not entirely sure what I would be looking for there.

Lenovo comes with a strange Bluetooth manager to look after the mouse and keyboard and that is the only mention of bluetooth I can find anywhere on my PC. Oh - and that says that both are currently disconnected (I did just write that sentence with the 'disconnected' keyboard!)

Any other places to look or something to uninstall and reinstall? I'm stuck.

chev65 - I put in the picture of the network settings to show that it's missing the Airplane mode. That is another thing missing from this PC.

I am having the exact same problem but I am using an acer predator. I been through countless steps and tutorials and after rehashing them with Acer they want me to factory reset my computer. Frankly it's taken me a long time to troubleshoot problems that I've now been able to fix, so I am hesitant when a customer support rep (who is not having to do this on their own PC) is whimsically throwing that at me. I could this have something to do with the Version of windows 8 or are they all supposed to have that wireless option on the PC settings screen? A driver issue maybe? The funny thing is though you have been able to get your keyboard to work, mine says it is enabled, but disconnected, and I can't get it to find ANYTHING. NOTHING. Any help on this would be great... and thanks to those of you who have already contributed to this post.

I'm beginning to wonder if there's a difference between mobile Windows 8 machines and desktop ones. That would explain why it appears on one and not the other. Doesn't make sense but would explain it. Maybe Microsoft don't think Desktop users would ever want to turn bluetooth off.

Though that's not an answer because it still doesn't give us the opportunity to change Bluetooth settings anywhere.

Anyone out there able to help Smidgeons and me?

Check under "Devices". You can also manage bluetooth connections under it.

By the way, do you have an OEM windows utility installed for wireless setup? I remember I had a D-Link wireless manager (came with my D-link wireless adapter) and there is also a bluetooth settings to it. Just a thought.

Have you found anything that says Bluetooth Settings at all? I found a spot where I should be able to access it but it doesn't work when I click on it. Go into the Network and Sharing Center - Click on change adapter settings (on the left) - Right Click on your Bluetooth Connection - Choose Properties - Click on the Bluetooth tab at the top - There is a Bluetooth Settings link on that should give you access to the settings that we need to look at. When I click, right click, double click, nothing happens. Is yours the same way? Mine looks like this...

When you went to Device Manager, did you go to the View tab, then click to "show hidden devices".

Device Manager>Expand USB controllers>Right click and click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

Try to find the Bluetooth devices and download the updated bluetooth software from the manufacturer's website.

Apparently disappearing blue tooth devices is an extremely common problem. There are some fixes showing for this problem which have to do with the "radio" button being turned off in the control panel.

Bluetooth has disappeared from device manager - Microsoft Community

I also noticed that when I connected wirelessly that there was no "wireless" showing in PC settings and also NO flight mode on the wireless connections page. This is obviously another huge flaw in Windows 8 and I'm finding it very hard to believe they don't know about this problem since we both seem to have it.

It seems that Windows 8 only installs those wireless features if you are using a wireless connection for the initial set up. So when you change over to using wireless Windows 8 fails to install those features, which is why they aren't showing up. It may require that you refresh Windows 8 using a wireless connection, that should prompt Windows 8 to install those missing wireless settings and the airplane mode switch.

Third post down this guy talks about not having the airplane mode option again.
How do I disable 802.1x in windows 8 for wireless - Microsoft Community

For the Bluetooth devices it may help to turn on or set to automatic the Bluetooth service in Windows services. Just type services.msc into run.

Here's my first windows horror story in more than 10 years. That probably has something to do with me switching to Mac over a decade ago, but I just bought my parents a new all-in-one that runs Windows 8. Silly me for thinking this would be easier for them to use! Anyways, I also got them a bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth mouse to help cut down on wiring. I took on the daunting task of helping my parents via facetime to do the initial setup. Of course, I forgot they would have to unpack the original keyboard and mouse to get to the point where they could sync up the new devices. The mouse synced up easily via a logitech unifying receiver. Unfortunately, the K810 keyboard I bought them doesn't support the unifying receiver; so I planned on having them discover the device manually. This simple task reminded me why I absolutely hate Windows. For some reason, my parents new computer (HP Pavilion 2334 AllInOne Computer AMD E2Series 4GB Memory 500GB Hard Drive ) will not allow me to find the place where I can toggle the bluetooth between on and off. I've searched everything online pertaining to WIndows 8, and every single tutorial wants me to click on WIRELESS after I go into CHANGE PC SETTINGS. Of course, there is no WIRELESS tab on my unit, but apparently it's on everyone else's. WTF? Could someone please tell me how to toggle the bluetooth on? Why in the world would a desktop computer come defaulted with bluetooth turned off in this day and age, when everything under the sun has bluetooth capability? Please help!!!

You will quite possibly never notice this reply since it's quite delayed but I run across the same problem when I tried connecting some wireless headphones with my Vaio running WIN 8.1.

So I found this thread and with help from it and some personal exploring I managed to solve it for myself.

1) Open "Control Panel:.
2) Go to "Hardware and Sound".
3) Click "Devices Manager" under "Devices and Printers".
4) Expand "Bluetooth" category.
5) Double click on your Bluetooth device. Mine was called "Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth(R) Adapter" but others will probably have different names.
6) Go to "Driver" tab and anable the device.
7) Click on "Update Driver" just to be safe.
8) Now close everything.
9) Press Windows Button + I to open "Settings" side panel.
10) Click "Change PC Settings" at the bottom of the panel.
11) Click on "PC & Devices" option. First option on the list for me.
12) Select Bluetooth (I am 99% sure that the bluetooh option was not there before I activated my bluetooth through control panel > devices.)
13) You can now turn your bluetooh on and off from as well as pair devices with your computer from this menu.

Hope this helps. :)
