Random network disconnect to wireless network printer

This morning I installed an optional update from Windows Update. It was Ralink Technology WLAN 802.11 wireless LAN card.

Since then, when I try to print to my wireless network printer, the network would disconnect then come back on after a while. The update shows up in Update History as successfully installed but not in the installed updates. System restore is of no help here. The network configuration page shows normal. The web does not appear to be affected. I made a new network connection for the printer but it did not help.

Is there a way to reverse this update or should I uninstall the 802.11 LAN card and let windows re-install anew.

The printer is a HP Officejet Pro 8600e

You can go into device manager -right click the network card and roll back the driver - then search for this in windows search - "change device installation settings" and select never let windows install driver updates - also hide the driver in windows update - that should do it - if it still installs u can turn off a setting in maintenance - from memory.

Have you done a system restore?(THAT SHOULD WORK)- It may have been one of the other updates you can get more info on each update by following the more information link in windows update - firstly the system restore - check to see if problem is fixed - then scrutinize each update before installing.
You could try an updated driver for the hp printer also HP Support & Drivers | United States.
Try the following link for network card driver - go to the Ralink Technology website - support /drivers etc (Please note that the Ralink website has been merged with MediaTek website since January 7th, 2013)
MediaTek - Downloads Windows

I already tried system restore, updated the drivers, uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it using the latest software from HP. A USB connection works fine but not the wireless. Have reconfigured the network also. Strange indeed!

You can uninstall the card driver in device manager and select remove the current driver from the pc permanently - reboot the PC - it will then have an unknown device with a yellow asterisk next to it in device manager - you will need to download a suitable driver prior to this from the manufactures website or use the driver that came with the card and install it in compatibility mode with the OS its written for:

Compatibility mode :To install a driver/program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp/w7 - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

This may not work either so you might have to reset the pc - there are tutorials at this site for that - skip the refresh option as it may not work - resetting will, and you will have to make sure the driver doesn't get installed again.
