No password and username request when sharing between 2 pc

Dear Members, while trying to share folders and files not within a homegroup, but with workgroup, I create 2 same accounts on my desktop pc and my notebook that have windows 8 installed on them. Then I share folders and when accessing dtPC or notebook windows does not ask for a password, just opens the files under the network group. However when i start windows and try to access shared folders right away, it gives me the message that the path was not found. Only a while after that it gives me the access.
If i try to do the same thing but with the notebook what has windows 7 installed it asks me for a password and username as expected and everything goes well.

Could you please explain why can't I make windows 8 ask for credentials while trying to reach another pc with windows 8.

    Thank you for any help.

    Welcome to EightForums, sonicmz.

What types of accounts are you signing into your machines with?

No they are both local accounts.

The entire point of using the Same User name and password on both machines is so that it doesn't ask for the password.

Use a different User name and password then turn on password protected sharing. Although the problem still remains that Windows tends to remember credentials once you type them in so may not ask for them again.

Thank you for your reply, however using different username and password ends up with "you don't have permission to open this location" that is why i used the same credentials to access both computers. In addition to that when using win7 machine, i also have the same credentials and it always asks for them when i try to access the win 7 pc. Can't understand what is the difference in sharing and permissions options in these OS.

Have you tried adjusting the permission settings on the C:>Users folder on both of those machines. C:>Users folder is where Windows is shared from by default. Picture shows this adjustment.

If this doesn't work then check that there are no locks showing on the C:>Users>User Name folder.

After that, you should have unrestricted access. You can also set up a Homegroup between those two machines.

Thank you for the hint, could you also clarify what is the difference between section "network and file sharing" and "advanced sharing" in the sharing tab in options of the folder.
And still the question remains, why windows 8 and windows 8 doesn't ask for password and login and windows 7 always asks.

p.s. you wrote "check that there are no locks showing on...", what does the lock mean. I noticed some locks on files.
