I've had this since I installed 8, but other little things kept me busy and since the PC is on all day, it's not been a big inconvenience, I would like to get it fixed however.

When I boot up the PC does not connect to the net.

When I trouble shoot it, it connects and gives the message

[h=3]"ethernet" doesnt have a valid ip configaration fixed.[/h]

If you can post a screen shot of the ipconfig/all from this machine it would be helpful. :)

Had a similar problem...

I updated my Intel 82567 driver. Seems to work again. Lenovo W8 motherboard e-net driver was obsolete on their website. Got the driver for W8 from Intel site.

It looks to me like your machine is not resolving an IP address from the DHCP server. Your router is usually your DHCP server and default gateway, The IP address of it looks odd 192.16.1. There should be another number after the last period. Eg 192.168.1.1

Actually form what I'm seeing here part of your IP information is cut off so I can't even tell if you have a valid IP or not. The last number on the subnet mask has also been cut off.

No router adjustments are required here as yet, just the complete ipconfig/all if you don't mind "picture below".

A screen shot of the ipconfig/all is much preferred.

Yes you do have a valid IP here.

Is there a third party anti virus or firewall installed on this system?

Have you tried going to the manufacture's site for an updated driver for this Ethernet connection?

Intel Download Center

On a system this old finding the right driver may not be easy but run the scan at the Intel site and see what it says.

Avast anti virus is running.

Yes I downloaded the latest driver before I upgraded. In case I lost the ability to connect.

If you have the latest driver then Avast is the most likely culprit here.

When I see a valid IP with no connection that means something is blocking the connection.

Does it show up as connected but your browser won't go anywhere?

No it shows up as not connected.

BUT I went and rechecked the drivers, and the ethernet driver had gone back to 2006, so I reinstalled the 2011 driver and restarted and it worked ok.

Computers are strange.

Yes it sounded like a driver issue, driver went back to 2006, now that is strange. Glad you have it working now.

Feel free to mark as solved.
