Hi guys
In our university we have wi-fi
I have windows 7 befor and now I have windows 8 and have this problem in win 8 that our chief of the internet company of our univerciry can not fix it
For using this wi-fi with my laptop , all of the students have their own user id and password.we import these id and password in a connection called “VPN”(like using dial up connection)(see the picture below)

Befor importing the id and password first we should connect to the wi-fi.but this is my problem that connecting to vpn has no problem but when connected to the wi-fi it said “limited” and Ii can not connect to the internet(see the picture below)

"Limited" usually means that TCP/IP for your Wi-Fi connection is not set up on your PC correctly.

In Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center, Network Connections, WiFi (right click) Properties, Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) (Select then click Properties).

Obtain an IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS Server address Automatically should both be checked, unless you have been given specific addresses for these from your network administrator, in which case select the other options and fill in the boxes appropriately.

Click OK and Close and it is often useful to reboot to clear residual limited connection attempts

Seems like a lot of people are having issues with their WiFi, majority of the cases I've experienced with WiFi dropping is due to driver updates or improper settings.

Try disabling all other internet connections expect the WiFi your trying to connect to and see what happens.

Open Network & Sharing Center
under Control Panel choose Change Adapter Settings
now disable all unused devices by right clicking
as soon as its disabled try reconnecting to WiFi

let me know how it goes

It may help to find out the default gateway, DNS servers, and subnet that the VPN is using then define those setting in your IPv4 properties window.

Connecting through this VPN might also require you to allow this VPN through the Windows firewall.

First off, you can not connect to VPN with out some sort of network connectivity to connect to VPN.

If you can access everything while not connected to VPN,
but can not while connected to VPN,, then this is a VPN issue. not a WIFI issue.
Could be firewall related, but I doubt it.

Can you post a screenshot of the properties of that VPN connection?
