smart tv disappeared from charm bar device menu

While trying to set up my gf's Acer laptop to be ready to be used on my home network once she gets it off Santa at Christmas I have came across a problem I can't find a solution to. Using a virgin superhub, an Acer aspire e1-531, running windows 8, and a Sony bravia TV, I somehow found myself with the TV's device name under the second screen option in the device section of the charm bar. Next day when I tried to recreate this situation there is no tv option in the same place and I cannot work out how I managed this in the first place. I have tried googling my problem but there is little info that deals with my problem. Sorry if I have left any relevant info out of my post but if anyone has any thoughts or solutions on the subject as maybe I am missing something obvious as as you can prob tell, I am something less than an expert in this field thanks in advance ...
