How to always remain connected to wireless network?

    Hi!

I'd like to ask how I could remain connected to the wireless network, even if an Ethernet cable is plugged into my PC? Currently, my work involves constantly plugging into and out of the wired network, which always disconnects my SSH sessions that were originally created over the WiFi connection when the WiFi goes down.

    Thanks for your help!

What do you do when you plug in and out? I searched on "use ethernet wifi same time," and I found some links that might be pertinent to you. Give that search or a similar one a try. Maybe you'll find something of use.

I'm actually a network engineer so I need to physically plug my computer into switches periodically (for testing/configuration purposes).
I'm able to have both my wired and wireless networks active at the same time; it's just that when I plug in my Ethernet connection, my wifi connection automatically disconnects and I have to manually activate it again (which is a major annoyance for me).
I did a quick search using the words you suggested, but couldn't really find anything that "forces" the wifi connection to remain active.
But in any case, thanks for your reply!

You are very welcome. And, yes, when I searched, I couldn't find anything that sounded exactly like a solution for you. Good luck.

This probably doesn't help solve your problem, but I can report that I can connect/disconnect the LAN cable that connects my Win8 desktop and Win8 notebook, and neither computer will drop its WiFi connection. FWIW, they all (including my WiFi router) are on 192.168.1.xxx addressing.

There is a setting for this in the Group Policy Editor. If you set it to disabled it will enable you to use both connections at once.

It also explains that the Ethernet connection will take over if both connections are enabled if the setting is enabled or is default setting.

I posted a screen shot to make it easy to find the setting.
