Internet disconnects every few minutes

Hey,
Recently, my PC has been randomly disconnecting from the internet every few minutes for about 5-10 minutes.
I'm sure it isn't the router or ethernet cable as I have tried it in my netbook which runs Windows XP and it works fine.
I have performed a virus scan which has found nothing and I haven't changed any settings recently. I connect straight to the router with a ethernet cable.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

You might want to consider updating the firmware for your router. XP is old school and things have changed since then.

With no ipconfig/all info, no router hardware/model version info and no system specs I can only guess at what the problem might be. :)

Sorry, I've included the ipconfig /all below. The issue has only come up recently and has otherwise been fine so I do not think it is an issue regarding router firmware.
My router is a BT Home Hub Type B running firmware V100R001C01B031SP12_L
My PC is running Windows 8 64-bit. I am connecting to the internet using the onbuilt ethernet port on the motherboard as I don't have a network card on hand.
Here is some of my DxDiag file:
System Manufacturer: MSI System Model: MS-7693
BIOS: BIOS Date: 09/30/11 15:36:36 Ver: 04.06.04
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 960T Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 8180MB RAM

And my ipconfig /all:

You might as well see what happens if you connect directly to your modem.

Thanks for your reply. I've just tried that and it didn't seem to solve the issue. However, the disconnects are less common now as opposed to every few minutes. I've tried disabling my firewall which didn't seem to do anything either.

To fix this problem you will want to disable or uninstall the Hamachi interface as it tends to cause connection problems quite frequently. Windows seems to have problems using multiple networks but I haven't taken the time to nail down the cause.

Maybe try a different version of Hamachi or something.

It might even help to define the IP and subnet in the advanced TCP/IP settings but I haven't tested this out yet.

I can just about guarantee that Hamachi is causing your connection problems, been there done that, more times than I can remember. :)

Disabling Hamachi didn't seem to have any effect but I managed to find an networking card lying around. When connecting through that, the disconnects appear to have stopped however there is a more unusual problem.

When doing a basic, not very strenuous task using the internet (Such as streaming a YouTube video in 360p quality), in CMD after pinging to google.com, the ping appears to have 9 lines of a ping around 31ms which is normal, then it spikes to 260ms for 7 more lines, then goes back to 31ms for 9 lines. I understand that it is buffering the video however I haven't noticed this happening before. Maybe I'm just very unaware but I don't think the ping should be spiking that high?

Of course changing the network interface would change the conditions of the network problem. The ping test indicates that there are still intermittent problems with your network.

I'd have to see the ipconfig/all to see if Hamachi is actually disabled or not, it can be rather persistent.

Looks good with Hamachi off, the only other problem I see here is too many tunnel adaptors, 16 are showing but you only need one. This usually indicates that the driver for the Realtek RTL8139/810x needs to be updated.

If you can go into Device Manager, to the top choose the View tab, then select "show hidden devices" This will allow you to see all the extra tunnel adaptors.

If you can uninstall all those extra adaptors it might help with this problem. New ones will be created by Windows if you uninstall them all.

I also noticed that you are showing two default gateways where your DNS server should be, this would normally only be one gateway which points back to the router as the DNS server. I'm not completely sure why it's showing two gateways.

These are the only real problems I'm seeing here so far. You might want to check in Windows task manager to see which programs or Apps might be using network resources.

Starting up in safe mode with networking might be a good way to test if the problem is caused by an installed program which is running in the back ground.
