I am new to WIN-8 and networking but decent with Win-7. On new 8 computer I set up a network, not wireless, to 7 machine.I then put some folders in a transfer folder on network, saw them on 8 machine and copied them to desired location. Now I want to empty transfer folder but no matter which file, win-7, net, or desired location I delete files from they are deleted from all locations.
My question--How do I disable this linking so I can delete the files from network folder to regain disk space but leave the in the other locations? Hope I am clear.
Thank you
SG

I don"t necessarily understand, but try creating a new folder(s) where you want the files to end up and copying the files to the new folder(s).

That is what I did--- copied files from network file to desired location.
Still deleting them in network folder removes them from desired folder as well. I need to make these folders independent.

You said "put some folders in a transfer folder on network, saw them on 8 machine and copied them to desired location." You copied the folders, right? Not sure it will work, but I am suggesting that you don't copy the folders. Copy the contents of the folders to newly created folders in the desire location(s). I have to admit that I don't understand about a network transfer folder. And, maybe your did copy files not folders. I don't have a clear picture of what you are doing. Sorry.
