    Anyone have their router die?

I had my three year old Netgear just die this morning. I don't recall ever reading or hearing of someones router just dropping dead.

Usually performing the 30 30 30 trick will get them working again.

Talking with the Netgear support got me nowhere, all they wanted is $40US to check it out online. I said no thanks and went to my Local Best Buy they gave me a new Netgear router free just exchange my dead router. So much for Netgears support East India help.

Yes the support from India these days isn't worth using although the hard reset normally will fix these types of problems unless the power supply just died or something.

I was a network engineer, so I've used many, many routers, switches, firewalls, etc... and the consumer products are not the most robust and they frequently fail after a few years. I prefer NetGear, as the LinkSys just don't sseem to last as long. I don't think I've ever seen a Cisco product fail...

Absolutely. Home routers are notorious for going belly up. They are built rather cheaply and are cheap enough to replace that most people just don't care.

Now, with that said, I've had my current router for about 6+ years.
