PC Ethernet problem?

Hey, this is my first post on the forums so I apologize if I 'm 'unfamiliar' with various terms around here.

Ive seemed to run into a network error on my win8 where it's asking me for an Ethernet cable plugin. Everything else, tablets, the TV, laptops, etc. All work fine,so I know it's a problem with my PC, but I've always used wireless Internet and the PC is asking me to plug in an Ethernet cord so I can connect to the Internet.

As I said, however, I use wireless and I checked my PC and motem/router, but no cords have fallen out at all.

Anybody have any advice on the issue?

Thanks,
TBL

Do you have a wireless network set up? Can you see if there are any networks available wirelessly? Are you on a laptop? Could you have accidentally turned off a mechanical WiFi switch? Do you connect wirelessly with an internal card or a dongle? Can you get to the internet using Ethernet? You might have to buy a long Ethernet cable. Run the Windows 8 upgrade assistant if you can get to the internet with Ethernet. It may find a Win8 related problem with your system. Does Device Manager show any problem items?

If you go into Device Manager, open up Network Adaptors, find the Ethernet adaptor and disable it, this should keep the error message from appearing.
