    Wifi - No networks found

Ok so here's the thing. Installed W8 pro with media centre (x86). Everything worked fine, connected to internet wirelessly no problem. Then after a couple of days I get no networks found out of the blue for no apparent reason.

    Here are the facts:

Router/internet connection is fine, other devices in my house still connect fine.
Network card fine. Have the most up to date drivers, device working properly etc etc.
If I connect pc to router with ethernet cable I can get on internet fine.
If I do a troubleshoot it just tells me to investigate router or access point issues (turn router off for 10 seconds etc). Like I said, router is fine; NO networks are found, neighbour's one usually comes up but not any more.

    Any help appreciated!

Maybe your neighbor quit broadcasting SSID. Go to Starbucks and check their wireless out, assuming your router isn't wireless. Is your router wireless? Are there any wireless computers at your place connecting wirelessly via your router? Could a mechanical wifi switch on your computer have been accidentally turned off.

Thanks for your reply. I'm using a pc not a laptop so can't go to a public hotspot. I used to pick up about 7 or 8 networks in range but now nothing comes up (but i can see them when i scan for networks on xbox). My router is wireless, I connect to it with Xbox, smartphone etc. I'm replying to this very thread on my galaxy s3 via my talktalk router so i know its working. No mechanical switches on computer.

Go to the ipv4 settings for your adapter, in the advanced button, add the default gateway address.(router address) ex. 192.168.0.1

I'm having a very similar issue, although it seems to be intermittent. My internet will work fine for a while then I will, seemingly at random, lose it. All my devices (two smartphones, laptop, xbox) still detect the wireless signal yet no internet access. Same is true for my Ethernet connected desktop. I can reconnect if I reboot my cable modem though. I have the latest driver for my D-link DFE-530TX+PCL Ethernet adapter. I have followed the suggestion of DMHolt57 above so we shall see if it helps...

I'm having the same issue as well, I don't get why windows eight is saying that the device is working fine when clearly my wireless adaptor is not working. It works fine I Ubuntu (dual boot)
My card is atheros Qualcomm wifi a500. Have the latest updated drivers. Installed. Says wifi not found.

You are very welcome. You might try updating your router's firmware. Also, to try to gain some info, you might try running the Win8 upgrade assistant. The assistant works even if you already are running Win8. You can run it without downloading and installing it.

yes, wireless gets out of whack for different reasons under win8.
    My experience:
--Avast NDIS filter gets disabled and render internet unusable, found a work around for that. If you have Avast check your drivers and report back. -disable self module protection or start in safe mode and back on again
--IPV4 settings gets jacked up, and unchecks 'get ip address automatically" so had to put it back manually

Those were the two wifi prob i faced under win 8. But all working good over all.

The only thing knocking Windows 8 out of whack is in fact the A/V software that is being installed which is hardly a Windows 8 problem.

It's up to those selling the A/V products to get it working with Windows 8, not the other way around.
