8 doesn't see my routers usb drive but 7 does.

    Hello,

I recently upgraded windows, and have lost the use of the drive attached to my Asus RT N66U.

Windows 8 is able to access the folder via media server, or ftp but the routers drive is not recognized in a way that I can map the folders.

Network discovery and file sharing are enabled, and I am able to "see" the other computers attached to the network.

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi Gretschplayer and welcome to the forum. You will find that it is likely to be a Firewall problem. All you need to do is access firewall settings and change your adapter setting to Local network. This will give you access to your NAS.

    Thank you Tarka Dal,
However I think I'm a bit lost on this. I'm not sure how to change the adapter settings to Local network - Currently my settings are Private Network (My two choices being Public or Private). I just turned off the firewall to see if that worked, and unfortunately I was still unable to access the NAS. Perhaps I am misunderstanding, or missing a step?
    Thank you for your help!

I only had what windows 8 had onboard at the time.
It was an upgrade from windows 7 - having only Microsoft essentials.

Anyway, I did a quick re-install and now it works perfectly.
    thank you for your help!
