Internet keeps freezing / Admin priv?

Hello all,
After spending 5 weeks with several parties, I'm going to give this a shot..

I went from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro.
I did a new install (Reformatted HD etc)
So after Windows 8 installed with nothing else.. I am having problems with Browsing Internet / Network(?)

If I google something and open up like 10 links, 4 of them keeps stalling with "Waiting for ......" at the bottom
I need to close the browser and after sometimes after 5 - 6 tries, I am able to get a webpage again..

I tried updating all the drivers for Windows 8 (Intel N-6250 Wireless Card).
Also I tried hardwired, and also the same problem.
This is driving me completely insane.. Spending weeks on something like this...

I do have a router, Cisco E3000 I believe... could that be causing a problem as well for Windows 8 ?

With Windows 7, I never had these type of problems.

Any help, tips before I throw Windows out the door are welcome :)

2nd problem is, how to get rid of those annoying messages about I need admin priv. for copying / moving files.
All I do is hit OK for Agree and it does it's thing. The whole Account priv. is turned down..
and I know for a fact that I am an Administrator, but in Windows 8 it's not really an admin anymore..
Cause If I install something, it does it different as when I right click on it, and select install as Admin.
In Windows 7 Admin = Admin..
Now in Windows 8 Admin <> Upper Admin.. (hidden account).
Is there a way to get rid of that?

Thank you all

Hi, and thank you.

for #1, IE10 from the Metro Desktop and the Normal Desktop.
Also tried later on Chrome.
All having the same problem with wireless and wired.

for #2 Thanks. So If I am right, Windows 8 does Not handle files the same way as a Windows 7 Admin.
Since you need that Elevated Admin Rights. (the confirmation button that's showing in the Dialog boxes).

Hi and you're quite welcome.

No. Not the same. Another layer of protection. So you have #2 worked out then. Correct?

So far as #1, I'm on my phone right now. I don't see your hardware posted in your profile and not sure if I can see it on the phone app. If you don't have it listed, please do so. I'll take a look as soon as I get to my PC.

Number 2, I just have to deal with it. I looked at the other thread, but that was more for Apps and a global setting, but that would break Metro Apps..
so I'll just have to hit ok everytime when it comes up..
I will update my profile with all the other info as well. give me 2 minutes

Hi. We can conclude it's a setting in 8 since you hard wired it, correct? I mean how can it be an ethernet and wireless card be wrong at the same time, right? But just to double check, in your OP you stated you had a Intel N-6250 Wireless Card, but in your specs you have it as a n_6150. Which is correct? Did you try to install the wrong drver by any chance?

If that's not it, have you checked Internet proxy settings?

Sorry. I made a typo.
Is the same card, and i did not install the driver. Windows did that for me.

I did go ahead and made a dual boot.. So its easier to do things.
I created a new partition
Installed windows 8
Tested my problem.. Working fine.. :/
Installed each component 1 by 1 (4 total) and checked in between.. Working fine..

Now i am getting crazy... Why is it working... Just dumb luck
Tried 9 x 15 browser pages and zero problems....

So.... O.. Maybe i did something after all.
So now installing windows update 12 updates 900 mb

Lets see what happens after that..

I remember installing frame network 2.5 and 4.0 for 2 apps later on.. Delphi xe2 and a newsreader. So i am skipping
Those for now.

Dumb question. My cisco router e3000 is not causing a problem right?
Now im waiting till windows update is done, so i can test again.

Btw. I love the app for the ipad, to read the forum.. Thats what i am using right now

ok, so far everything is working..
Installed office 2010, with updates, my programs that I use.. .net (I think it's called) 2.0 3.5 and 4.0
still working fine..
All I have left is Kaspersky 2013.. but I tried that at that time as well, and didn't make a difference..
So I don't get it.. I am fighting this thing for weeks..
I did a fresh install again...
But... I guess I can make a HD image, and put the other one back and see if it fails..

I did make a change last week on my router. (network name SSID)
I had the 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz network both the same name. like pkaworld now I called it pkaworld 2.4 and pkaworld 5

Could that have anything to do with it???

I think it to be a good idea to dual boot for now.

It could be, but I don't see how renaming would cause a problem, but then I'm not that savvy. Names are for us. Machines read numbers. We just point an OS to a network with the name. It records the number. I'm wondering if your 7 was picking up the higher Ghz. We'll have to keep this in mind.

I would suggest to just install the OS and let it run for 2 to 3 days to stabilize first before loading other software. This way you can tweak it first. There's enough to do setting up networks, email accounts, playing with apps, etc. Yes?

I'm not one for 3rd party AV or maintenance software unless it's proven absolutely reliable. I use MS AV which is Defender now in 8. It's written for it and it's free. CCleaner (free version) is the only other one.

I was thinking, that maybe the wifi was looking for the SSID and found 2 networks, so 1 time it picks that channel and the other time, the other one.
I really don't know..
I just installed the last batch of programs I use.. if that still works, then I am going to make an image of the whole thing,
and restore the bad one... then I know for sure if the naming was causing a problem..

Mainly because in the Event log I am not seeing the DNS errors anymore either.
The 1 I have now is

Name resolution for the name servedby.flashtalking.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.

but it's not the other Error about DHCP Error cannot use IP something like that..
I had over 30 errors every bootup..

1 thing that I did not install was the USB3 drivers.. since that was already in Windows 8.. so wondering if that was part of it..
I did had event errors about a USB registry entry..

Anyways... Going to backup and put the other one back, and see if it fails..
then I know for sure what was causing the problems here..

Edit: Just updated the Intel 3000 HD drivers to the latest version, and now I am getting one of the errors back..
The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device USB\VID_138A&PID_0018\9c81395fac58

But what have USB do to with the Graphics??

ok, since windows 8 doesn't have a system restore... at least not from earlier today, (there is only 1 and that was right after the install of windows 8 itself sigh)

Either PowerDVD 12 or the Intel 3000 HD Drivers installed a USB driver ??
Weird thing is that everything is duplicated in my Device Manager for the USB section
The main one "Intel (R) Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 1C26" seems to be working fine,
but now, there is also a "Intel (R) Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 1C2D"
and The Generic Hub, USB Root Hub etc are all duplicated.
And I will get the Driver Device Error as mentiod before.
When I disable the 2nd one, then I get rid of all the Duplicate items, and the error is gone..
So what caused it to be installed in the first place..
I tried uninstall the Intel 3000 HD drivers, but it doesn't remove all the other extra ones.

I am getting a lot of there ! ones

ok, I've restored the old Windows 8 and all the errors we're back.. including all the web timeouts again
So I really have no clue what is/was causing it.. I reinstalled it 6 times and always had the same errors.
Here is a list of those errors.

The \Driver\WUDFRd I know what that one is now, and disabled the 2nd controller that showed up all the sudden..
(some program is installing something, but I don't know which one....yet.

now in the list is this error 0x4025C2E705AD I looked it up and it's the Mac address from a hidden component. when I did a
ipconfig /all
It was some MS virtual port driver. With this setup, I do not have that one anymore.
All those other policy errors, I don't know... that's just messed up somehow..

BTW..... I have 1 folder, that I cannot delete on my drive.. it's complaining about no rights... which was an own created Folder in Windows 8. There is some user on that folder that I can't get rid of... Even tried changing the rights as Admin, but all I get is
Denied........
Any ideas for that one?

Sorry, you have me dizzy now. I think you are in too much of a rush. Please read my post #10 again. Mainly to install OS first.

BTW, what are you using to install? ISO disc? Thumb drive?

lol I am sorry.
Yes I created a Thumb drive from the download.
Installed it, and using the dual boot now.
So far no problems anymore.

I made a image of my drive, and I put the old one back, to see if it still had errors, since I named the SSID from the 2 networks different. But that didn't make any difference.. So I am back to my Dual boot version.

I installed all my default items, and everything is working fine. Did do 1 driver update for the Video, and that's where I got the Dupe USB driver in the Device manager.. I disabled that one, and the error was gone.
I've been using it all night.. rebooted several times, and the Event log is clean..
I have really no clue what caused the problem.. Unless it was a Windows error, and the Windows update fixed it

Ok. Cool! You're up and running. All I was suggesting was to get the OS tweaked and running first. 80% of problems with any new OS is drivers. Especially video drivers with 8 because of screen resolution demands for Modern (Metro) app snap.

Can't we assume that one of the main problems was the video driver? Is your monitor USB? Is that why it loaded the duplicated USB driver?

I take it the network speed problem is resolved?

Now AV -> Like I stated, I'm not big on 3rd party maintenance software. I've been using Security Essentials since introduction without any problems. I've gotten viruses, but SE has always found them and eliminated them. Some on the forum have stated that other AV is useless in 8 because they don't have the code to write AV fixes for removal. Like I said, I'm not that savvy, but it makes sense to me.

Another thing is to keep a clean and orderly registry. A lot of members here recommend CCleaner (free version), both for temporary file removal and registry scan. Can't beat it and the price is right.

I don't know about anyone else, but the first thing I do after installing an OS is to tweak it, let it update, run temp file and registry scans, and defrag. I'll play around learning it for two or three days to let it stabilize, then start loading other software.

Well...... I put in a new hd, since i wanted a full hd backup..
And installed only win8. And guess what... I have all those dhcp and other errors again..
I just dont get it... Does a dual boot make hat much of a difference??.?

Doing the windows update right now to see if the dhcp error goes away.
But for now, i have all those timeouts again.. See post 13

All i did was install windows, no drivers etc installed..

Oh shite! I'm on my phone so I don't know which is post 13. There not numbered in the app.

Anywho, I dual booted on my older Acer T690 using the forum tutorial with RP and Enterprise Evaluation. I hate to say it, but both installs went as smooth as a baby's butt! And both ran fine without a hitch. I haven't bought or loaded new yet, for I want to upgrade some hardware first.

Let me get this right. You installed another extra HD in your lappy? Just the two you have listed now, correct? Installed 8 on the new? With what other OS?

I can see why you're frustrated. Keep the faith! We'll get this Fn thing loaded! It just simply cannot be this difficult!

Well i have 3 hd,s.
2 in laptop and 1 spare
I used the spare one to install windows 8
Funny thing is..
After doing the windows update, all the errors are gone again..
The only thing i have left is the double entry about the driver.. But looking at another laptop that i bought today, it has that one as well.

Now.... I installed the upgrade on my new h. Did you install maybe the full version ??

Yes. Full versions. Fresh installs from ISOs.

That explains a lot of the problems. A lot of people having trouble with upgrades. Fresh installs are better IMO.

New lappy? Good for you! Which one?

How's the upgrade one doing?
