GPO Drive maps for offline files

    Hi all,

This is my first post here, I've searched a bit on the forum but I couldn't find the answer to my question so here it is.

I'm on a domain enviroment running on Windows 2008 R2 domain controller, I've just updated my laptop with Windows 8 Pro ( al other PC here are still Windows 7 ) and I'm facing a litle issue with GPO drive maps.

I have many Drive maps object affected to my users that work fines, the problem I have is when I disconect my laptop from the network and reboot, all network drive disappears and I don't have access to any of my "offline" files on those drives.

Any idea on how to fix this ?

Because your system make a quick synchronization, not a full synchronization

if your GPO is setup properly you should have those registry key :

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\NetCache\SyncAtLogon
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\NetCache\SyncAtLogoff

just set the value at 0

Thank you for the quick reply I'll try it out. But why do I have to do this with Windows 8 and not on Windows 7 ?

I don't think it's because of Windows 8 but more probably the upgrade reset thing in the registry

Well actualy I did not upgrade I did a clean intall of Windows 8. And those "NetCache" key do not exist either on LM and CU, is that normal ?

If you did a new install, I don't know oh you re introduce this PC to the domain, to many factors can come the equation. I don't see it as a Windows 8 problem, something else is not setup properly.

But I have plenty of other workstations on Windows 7 that join the domain the same way without problem. So I really think it's something special I need to configure for Windows 8. Are you sure that the 2 keys that you gave me are suposed to exist on Windows 8 or maybe it's leftovers from a Windows 7 upgrade on your side ? ( or not if you have also a clean install and not an upgrade )
