Virtual NIC (Not Loopback Adapter)

I have an old application that I can no longer get support for from a defunct publisher that uses a license key that is tied to a MAC address. I've been using it for years under XP with a Virtual NIC driver that allowed me to specify the MAC address of the Virtual NIC. The Driver is freeware and works flawlessly under Windows XP, and it seems I even successfully deployed it at one time under Windows 7.

Does anyone know of a Virtual NIC that works with Windows 8 other than the MS Loopback adapter which doesn't allow MAC virtualization. Or a way to force install the old VirtNet adapter under 8?

Thanks

If you have Win 8 Pro, you can set up a Windows XP virtual machine in Hyper-V and manually assign a MAC to the vNIC.

Can you simply install a second NIC and bridge this NIC in Hyper-V instead of using NAT
