Windows 8 Pro: Internet Access Issue

Hi everyone

Let me explain:

1.) I updated Windows 7 Pro 64bit to Windows 8 Pro (all went smooth)

2.) I had Wifi Internet access

3.) All of a sudden, I can no longer get access to the internet; not trough LAN or Wifi. It says Internet Access, but no page can be opened. It appears very similar to a firewall or security issue.

Could anyone assist me, I am desperate because the machine is useless without internet access and I cannot revert back to Windows 7

Thanks in advance
Peter

Thanks for the swift response. Mystere - Maybe I did yes, I cannot remember but it is possible. Alphanumeric, I have made numerous attempts with troubleshooting, with not positive outcome. I even installed a USB Dongle to access the internet directly through the dongle, not using LAN or Wifi, issue remains exactly the same.

Some feedback:

Google Calendar Sync = Does seem to sync the MS Outlook calendar with Google Calendar
The antivirus program wants to update, but just cant get the connection it needs
No browser can access, including skype.

As mentioned before, it appears very similar to what I experienced on a previous occasion = firewall or security issue?

Could IPv6 cause this? Or is it something I did on the machine? It genuinely worked like a charm. The only think I might have changed, it could be coincidental, is that I changed from a microsoft user account to a local account.

Thanks for your assistance!
Peter

I failed to mention, that I have updated both the Wifi and Lan drivers to the latest ones, that works with Windows 8

Mystere, I remember know...the last software I downloaded, installed and used before the internet stopped working was Kobo E-Books for desktop. In fact, the software was open because I was busy reading a book...does this mean anything to you?

Apparently Kobo has some hidden proxy thing that can get randomly enabled. In Kobo, do CTRL-SHIFT-P and see if that fixes it.

Hi Mystere

Thanks again for your swift response. I did what you requested, but this did not solve the problem. It seems as if both IE and google chrome wants to connect. It is not simply saying no connection. It is genuinely as if something is preventing it to open the pages. I realised that when opening google chrome, left-bottom corner it says resolving proxy for a few seconds and then it reads waiting for page to load.

I so wish there is a solution for this

Thanks again for all your assistance
Peter
