    No wifi connection found

    Hi,

I digitally downloaded Windows 8, and the setup worked fine. However, when I could finally access Windows 8, I could no longer access the internet via wifi. The internet does connect via an ethernet cable, but there is no recognition at all of wifi.

    I have the following computer:

    Acer Aspire 3-571G
    Intel Core i5-3210M 2.5GHz
    8GB DDR3 Memory
    500 GB HDD
    nVidia GEFORCE GT 630M 1GB

Any help would be gratefully received as I'm really not sure why I no longer have wifi access.

    Thanks.

You might need a WiFi driver. Let me look around for one.

Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire V3-571G

Scroll to the bottom and see if any of the 2 Wireless LAN drivers work.

Thanks very much for the quick replies. Here is what I have done so far (unfortunately to no avail...):

Downloaded the Intel Wireless LAN Driver (2nd one down in the "Wireless LAN" section from the links you've given me).

Installed and run this programme, and then restarted.

Unfortunately no wireless connection is still being recognised. I also don't appear to have the "device manager" as per post 2 above installed on my computer.

I will try and download the "Broadcom" wireless driver now, but I'm not even sure if this is the right thing to do!

Yes, go ahead and try to install the Broadcom driver. It varies which model WiFi card you might have. If one didn't work, the other is almost guaranteed to work.

Just checked and it says that I should download the Broadcom driver. Done that now, installed it without a problem, and restarted my computer. However, still no wireless settings detected on Windows 8? I'm going to install the Bluetooth driver as well, and see if this helps.

Otherwise any other suggestions? I appreciate all the help you've given me so far.

Any chance of reverting back to Windows 7? Or would my drivers not be automatically reinstalled anyway?

Just seen on the Device Manager (I found it...), it says that the Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless Network Adapter cannot start.

We'll keep working for 8 before we think about going back to 7.

Can you go to device manager and post a screenshot with Network Adapters expanded?
