1/ could do but most likely wont (I dual boot win 8.1 and win 10 no probs so far)
2/ Turn off your internet before installing win 8 the set it up with Local account, after you can access the net if you wish...
I ve had the same problem, just sorted it out this morning, try using a program called "rufus" makes bootable usb/cd etc.
If the program you want to put on it is an ISO, you can use it to make your usb bootable.
And yes you have to disable Secure Boot for it to work (that was my problem)...

There is a little proggy I use, called Move on Boot.
MoveOnBoot Free - Rename/Move/Delete Locked Files on Reboot
D/L it, install and run , navigate to the folder or file, add to move on boot
Then restart ! should or will be gone.
FIRST make sure its not important to Windows

I would like to upgrade to pro because home doesn't allow me to use Hyper V.
Do not want to rush out and buy win 8.1 pro if it wont allow me to upgrade while saving all my settings/ programs etc... could hunt the net for this! but if anyone knows it will be you guys & girls.
