It's working now :). I plugged the SATA lead into a different slot, restarted and that didn't work, but then I put it in the original slot and it's ok - strange but I'm happy. I've had DVD drive problems both times I've installed Windows 8 to this PC - both clean installs too
I'm glad yours is working. I tried this last night and Command Prompt said it had 'completed successfully' so I rebooted but it didn't solve the problem. I'll try again tonight though.
I wonder what MS have done here? I thought the principle was that if things worked on Windows 7 they'd work...
Thanks for the reply. It isn't that though as a few minutes before I installed Windows 8 from DVD. I had other DVD issues in the consumer preview and went back to Win 7 and all was ok again. Seems there's some bugs
Hi folks. Another problem with my DVD drive here which I didn't have with Windows 7. As the title says my DVD drive will only read CDRs and not DVDs. My DVD drive is an Atapi iHAS122 . Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is?
Regards
Martin
Try going to Device Manager and remove the Titan from USB devices, then restart and plug in the phone and it the drivers should reinstall. Unless the cable has broken?
Unfortunately doing both of those things hasn't worked for me. I've also tried copying the cdrom.sys file (in Windows, System 32, Drivers) from Windows 7 to 8 but that hasn't worked either. Not sure what else to do really, just hope somebody will have a solution
Come on guys it's really not that bad. IMO W8 isn't as radical as I imagined it would be, I had serious doubts from seeing the DP and wondered how I'd cope with an OS with a seemingly split personality, but the reality is if you're a desktop user you stay in the Desktop 90% of the time. Just...
I'm liking Windows 8. Most of the time is still spent in the desktop so the changes aren't as big of an issue as I imagined. Until there are more powerful Metro apps I see the new Start screen as basically just an App launcher, at least on a desktop PC anyway.
I'm having a few issues with...
That's a shame!
I've since been into Device Manager and clicked Show Hidden Devices, it says Atapi iHAS122 and that the correct driver is installed, but in Device Status says the hardware isn't connected to the computer - I've tried plugging it in again but no luck.
Hope there's a solution...
Thanks for your reply vrosa - I'm not keen on doing that at this stage as I don't want to reload all my programs again if it can be helped. If it helps my CD/DVD drive isn't appearing in Device Manager, but does appear in BIOS and also Windows 7
I'm having the same problem too - the thing is when I first installed the Consumer Preview I installed Office from a DVD, but since then the drive has disappeared in Win 8. In Windows 7 the CD/DVD drive appears as ATAPI iHAS122 8 ATA device - I've tried searching for drivers but can't seem to...
