Hmmm.....
I don't recall getting any message about file permissions, and I even did full reinstalls of 7 and 8 just in case me messing about with the system had caused issues. Still no joy. And I have tried the same username and different usernames.
I have it on a partitioned ssd, partition size 39GB, and after installing, drivers for my printer, wireless etc, and first bunch of updates, I still have 29.1GB. only thing I specifically did was get rid of the hyberfile just like whs has mentioned

have had windows 8 and 7 dual booting nicely for a week or so now thanks to 'theog' giving me a hand last week.
I have noticed a bit of an issue though: i have both OS installed in an ssd and have docs etc located in a normal
harddrive. Thing is, whilst i can access the files fine...
Cheers mate. unbelievably, the 3rd link worked a treat. I didn't try that as all guides etc I had read stated you couldn't do a dual boot install from within windows. As ever, I fell really stupid but relieved!

I have a gigabyte z77 mother board and have windows 7 64 bit installed on a crucial M4 128bit ssd. I now want to install a full version of windows 8 64bit so I can dual boot between the two.
Went through creating a partition perfectly fine, and then popped the CD and rebooted...
