Good to know I'm not alone :p
I'm guessing a recent update caused an issue. I haven't downloaded any apps from the Windows Store for a while, so I can't say when it started.
Having a little trouble here with downloading apps from the store.
I'm getting an error: "Something happened and your purchase can't be completed. Error code: 0x80244022". This is for a free app.
I've Googled and very little comes up. I've performed the Windows Store Reset as well as the...
People buy a Windows PC to run Windows applications. If I buy a Windows tablet it will be to run Windows applications that I can't run on other tablet platforms. This rules out the ARM tablets as they'll only run Metro apps, therefore my tablet would have to run Windows 7 or Windows 8. But if...
That's fine, as long as the operating system matches the most commonly used input method which on a desktop PC will almost always be a keyboard and mouse.
Right clicking, keyboard shortcuts, etc.. all require more clicks/effort than simply single-clicking a QuickLaunch icon. Tabs in IE? Sure, but I'm on a multi monitor system and I like having multiple windows open. Occasionally I have to run IE64 in one window and IE32 bit in another because...
I hate the Windows 7 taskbar, always have and always will.
Pinned applications make no sense to me - you want more than one Explorer window open? Clicking the icon minimizes the one that's open. Want to open a second IE window? Clicking "E" again just minimizes IE. Senseless. I don't care...
And I use the favorites bar in IE along with Office 2003.
Heaven forbid I find something that works the way I want it to
But, go ahead, buy into the "latest and greatest" that gets rammed down your throat. I'll still be sitting here with a workflow that works for me. :)
Metro might be good for touch in a media consumption environment, but it sucks for getting any real work done. Unless of course you're a self proclaimed "blogger" and your "job" is to post Twitbook updates all day.
For me, it just gets in the way.
The Quicklaunch bar is also always visible, just like pinned programs. I don't like a cluttered taskbar, I just want it to show what is running. I don't like looking at a row of icons wondering if the program is running or if it's just a shortcut. I find the default Windows 7 taskbar to be...
Well you can see with that many applications on my system why I'd not want to be confined to the tiny little Start menu in Vista and 7. Sorted alphabetically it works perfectly, and with the program I found that does the cascading programs menu, moving the mouse off the last flyout doesn't make...
I don't like the pinned icons on the taskbar either. First modification I do to Windows 7: Shrink the oversized taskbar with small icons, get rid of the silly pinning and restore the QuickLaunch menu for a few things I want access to quickly such as IE, the snipping tool, and my Asus Xonar...
1) There's NO need for a "touch friendly" interface on a desktop PC or laptop that will be used primarily with a Keyboard and Mouse. Metro might be nice on a tablet/slate PC, but for most users who are familiar and comfortable with the way Windows has been for many many years, this will be an...
Not really - they're forcing users into a full screen "start menu" which is more clutter than anything. They've made it so that the conventional "Explorer" shell is rarely used, and difficult to use when you get into it.
As for Win7 on a tablet - I see absolutely nothing wrong with it if...
