Thanks for this but I have finally learned how to perform a windows 8 repair install. Which unlike a pc refresh doesn't force you to reinstall your programs.

I am also having the same problem. I had the same problem on my other laptop and I was forced to perform a refresh. But I don't consider a factory reset (refresh) to be a genuine solution. Something is fundamentally wrong with windows live tiles and the Windows app store.

Did you get any error messages? I ask because I am having the same problem I can't install new apps or update existing ones. Each time I attempt to install or update through the app store I receive error message 0x80072ee4 or 080073cff. I searched google and unfortunately none of the...

Do you have a secondary computer. A notebook, even a netbook would do. You could use that to create the Windows 8 recovery disk.

I have Windows 8 enterprise N installed and I really don't like the gui.:mad: I am going to look into installing the classic shell maybe that will help. Goes to google. :o

I agree with Gman windows 7 was very stable while in beta. Infact it was better than Vista with service pack 1 imho.
