Solved A rather upsetting Win 8 problem

I've resolved to saving as much as I can on the 160 and nuking the 750. Thanks for helping me out anyways (you've got rep!). I actually learnt a bit while doing this. But from what i know about the registry going down it's going to be a whole other monster to repair. I hope this thread can solve...

Solved A rather upsetting Win 8 problem

Okay. The quick test completed without any errors. And I'm able to read the registry files. Annd dammit. Registry is corrupted, as i expected. I'm going to try a refresh again just to see. Edit: Drive is locked error when i hit refresh. Seems im gonna have to do it the hard way.

Solved A rather upsetting Win 8 problem

Got some good news and some bad news. Good news, winload works! Bad news, still can't load \windows\system32\config\system But then that let us know two things. One: the bootloader CLEARLY finds the correct HDD which leads to two: either winload or some other file in the boot sequence is messed...

Solved A rather upsetting Win 8 problem

Great! I hope this works. I backed up the original and i replaced the winload with the one i found in boot. I'll try that first and if that doesn't work ill go into mini xp and change drive letters. Man why does Windows 8 have to be so different? lol

Solved A rather upsetting Win 8 problem

"Drive C" directly returns "not recognized." Diskpart > list volume though shows C as the 750 (win8) and D as the 160 (win7). EDIT: When i performed the search for winload on the Win8 drive it returned a bit of them in \WinSxS\amd64_mircosoft-windows....etc. The one anomaly i found is that...

Solved A rather upsetting Win 8 problem

Alright. So that's done. When trying to boot to windows 8, now it can't find winload.exe. From what I understand from what you said about the recovery partition however, the bootloader is now looking for winload on recovery partition which now no longer exists. If that's so, how can i aim it in...

Solved A rather upsetting Win 8 problem

Alright. And yes i do have a Win8 install disc. Let me know if you're able to deal with the recovery partition issue. Edit: Still no luck. Its still booting to win8 recovery without fail. Continue to Windows 8 invokes a reboot. And also, im seeing a good deal of partition on my HDDs. Which one...

Solved A rather upsetting Win 8 problem

Alright. I fired up the disc and I brought up the win7 boot loader. I hit win8 and it took me to the recovery environment which is good. I hit continue to windows*8 and my computer just rebooted. Ill do some more tinkering. Edit: Startup settings gives me a d000034 error. "something did not...

Solved A rather upsetting Win 8 problem

Oh man. Yeah. I ran both commands. Bootrec i ran to repair the boot record and bcdedit in an attempt to stop automatic repair from running since it was just a waste to time when booting up. Okay. I went I found that there is a later version of it, 15.2. Download that instead or 13 specifically?

Solved A rather upsetting Win 8 problem

Alright. Thanks for the insight. I'm definitely going to keep that in mind the next time that comes up. I'll try it now. EDIT: The gods must be angry at something i did because the boot loader inexplicably shows up no longer (BIOS boot order switching and everything). Now it just goes straight...
