The probem is not with the BCD, it is configured correctly - the exact same BCD shows the timeout when on another machine. There must be something in the makeup of this particlar machine that is suppressing the timeout.

The problem is with the Windows 8 bootmgr. When the windows 8 bootmgr is installed, there's no timeout shown on the legacy bootscreen, when the windows 7 bootmgr is installed the timeout function appears. The BCD is the same in both cases - timeout 5. Does anyone else have a windows 7/windows...

I selected windows 7 as the default OS in the windows 8 bootloader so now it loads the legacy bootloader at start up and not the windows 8 bootloader. The legacy bootloader contains 2 options, windows 7 and windows 8, both of which will boot when selected but for some reason there is no timeout...
