    If you have the "faststartup/fastboot" enabled onWin8 multiboot systems it can cause those checkdisk issues. Try disabling that option on both SSD's.

    Windows8 has nothing to do with how you save a file. Your word processor (MS Office ?) is saving those documents as .docx by default. Change the default to .doc if you prefer that extension

    You say the problem does not exist when connecting monitor to the integrated/onboard port. Maybe the wake-up signal is only going to that port . Is it recommended or possible to disable the integrated adapter in bios so you will only see/use the addon adapter?? Just a thought..

    Lisa you say you have Win8 pro...if so the update/upgrade to Win8.1 is freely available at the Windows Store. The upgrade at the store now includes the Apr8 update which will make your installation Win8.1.1.

    Hi 'heals...Go to mouse settings in control panel and look for & disable something called "tap-to-click'. That may be causing some of your jumping issues. This does not disable the touchpad itself but you will need to press a button to achieve a "click"

    Miles..I have Win7 pro 32bit in a vm on Win8 pro 64bit. Using Vm player which is free and extremely easy to install/configure and use. Simply allocate a few gigs disc space, couple gigs memory and you got a perfectly working Win7 !!

    The problem you are seeing could be caused by the Win8 "fastboot" feature. Disable fastboot and see if that fixes the problem. It can occur on dual boot and other multi partition configurations.
