I have fixed the problem on my HP Pavilion. It was with the BIOS update I installed last week. I rolled the BIOS back and my wireless turns on and off as it should. Who would have thought. Please pass along to anyone experiencing the same issues.

MikeW I am having the same problem in that my wifi will not turn on. I have a HP Pavilion dv7 laptop and should be able to hit the f12 button to turn the wifi in and off. It is currently turned off and I cannot turn it on.
