You should try installing DirectX. Download DirectX End-User Runtime from Official Microsoft Download Center

You can also block receiving messages from a specific address.

Most of them should work, if not all, in compability mode. Right click the shortcut/exe and use Troubleshoot compability, use recommended settings. New games should work without that, and some others too. You know, you can always go back to Win7 too :p

Hi Frodo, I recommend you try using the Troubleshoot Compability by right-clicking the shortcut/exe of Crysis and pressing Troubleshoot Compability, then choose Try using recommended settings. I had this problem with some app installer. Worked with me!
