During installation, look for the option to format (warning: this will erase everything on your PC) your main drive, where Windows is installed in the first place.
IMO, it would still be better to install 8.1 directly to avoid troubles with upgrading. Mine took over 5 months to update (the update goes through the windows store and is quite uncontrollable - errors are almost impossible to troubleshoot).
I use the Groove Smart Music Player app, that one does add a cover art photo to the live tile.
Take a look in the store and try some of your own I would suggest ;-)

I suggest you have a look via Windows' built-in Device Manager. Press Win + Q and type "Device Manager". Go to bluetooth and see if the device shows up there.
