Thanks David I've just tried it with an XP disc as I am waiting for my mate to drop of the windows 7 and although I heard the CD drive kick in the laptop still went into the automatic repair loop?

My Advent laptop has gone into the dreaded automatic repair loop in Windows 8.1 and I have had enough of it! I want to downgrade to windows 7 but when I go into the BIOS boot configuration to change the priority to CD drive I find I don't have that option. All there is is "> UEFI Boot Drive BBS...
