I just did some more reading. I might be up the creek without the paddle. I believe it's possible this recovery was made under 8.0 and in between time I upgraded to 8.1. Has this a error effect? Sometime after I made the recovery USB flash I accidentally erased over the recover partition on the...
I do not know if this will be viewed as it it and older thread. I made a recovery USB flash according to the accepted steps a year or more ago. When I insert the flash at the point in the image above I get the report that the media is invalid. If this is so I have no way to refresh or restore...
I have an HP Desktop Pavilion 8.1. Been a great work horse for several years. This a.m. I turned it on as normal. I think I logged in first but it's such a habit I can't say but instead of my desktop appearing it went to the whole screen changing colors of the Metro ... sorta colors. And had...
The real resolution to this is that Windows Defender WILL NOT turn on if there is any trace of another anti-virus program. It searches for other virus programs and switches to OFF and cannot be until all remnants of others are gone. Get rid of them and it will work. ":-Dx
Well the Title about says it. I have a Motorola Xoom Tablet. Now the reason I come to Win8 forum is because it (tablet) worked once (wireless transfer) and when I did a factory restore on this fairly new Win8 pc now the problem exists.
THE PROBLEM: I used to be able to connect up wirelessly...
I too still have the same issue and have been working on a resolution for the past several hours. I am in the same situation as jackdashack. I want to be able to start Windows Defender, I want to be able to find Windows Defender in Services. The error code I get is '0x80070424', Iv typed this...
I'm not sure if you are thinking I'm talking about the Windows 8 partial OS restore, that does result in some data loss. But I am talking about a simple restore point, recent. When I have problems I might look to a restore point in the last couple of days. That's not that much of a loss usually...
I'm gonna go out on a limb here mr hagimostafa and say why don't you try to (one) Go back a restore point or several to get beyond where you installed the drivers OR (two) find out where you can roll the drivers back. Usually there's a place where you can undo new driver installation to the...
Josh! It worked. Now in my own defense ... and stupidity, you'll see in the original post I'd tried this and didn't work. I think I might have type John D Doe. I should have typed John D. Doe See the difference? A PERIOD. I left out the period and that was the thorn in the butt. Thanks for...
Yes, the workgroups all have the same name. When I click on My Networks there see the shortcuts. Starting off there are none for the Windows 8 Pc. So I click on Entire Network>MS Windows Network> there I see my work group name. I click on that and there I see the 3 Pc's, including the Windows 8...
The Win8 as you probably know has the ability to see all devices on the network regardless of group name, and it does as I had at one time 3 different names it saw them all. The problem existed then. Last night I changed, according to Google links, the names of all 3 to just one name. Everyone...
Josh, I am going to check but consider this at this moment before I go again. One XP machine is able to access and read/write files off the Windows 8. The other XP cannot. As stated in the original at that time both were not capable. Then, all of a sudden the one became capable to access it...
Minor confusion. Both XP's were acting the same. When trying to access the Win8 Pc on the network both wanted a password. Now, unless it's a fluke, one of the XP's is able to access the Win8 Pc. Do not know why. The other one is still stalling at the password window. Nothing has been changed on...
