Is GPT UEFI not compatible with W8?

I have been using a triple boot system on one physical drive for over ten years. I have 5 different versions of the systems. Therefore, a system using multiple physical drives is no option for me. At the W10 group, there is no response for two days now so I have to continue the troubleshooting...

Is GPT UEFI not compatible with W8?

Thanks for your reply. I am primarily interested in using Windows installation(W10/W8 dual boot) so that I do not have to re-install application software. I have tried a third-party utility software to convert the MBR drive to the GPT drive, but it did not work as reported. Since my post, I have...

Is GPT UEFI not compatible with W8?

I am new to GPT UEFI. I recently assembled a new UEFI-capable machine and transferred the MBR-based system to this machine from an old machine. The transferred system is a multi-boot system for W10, W8.1, and W7. After confirming W10 and W8.1 work as in the old machine(W7 did not because the...

    No icon on desktop

When it boots up, there is no icon on the desktop. The icons show up if anywhere on the desktop or the start button is clicked on by the mouse. I ran in-place upgrade and the problem is gone, but a new problem of IME not shown at the system tray happened so that I can no longer write in any...

Power Options Menu - Add or Remove Sleep or Hibernate in Windows 8

The driver for the video card was "Microsoft basic driver" which must have been since W7. The problem might have something to do with my monitor being 4K or 3840 x 2160.

Power Options Menu - Add or Remove Sleep or Hibernate in Windows 8

The repair install I tried failed. There was no message explaining why. Check disk, System File Checker found no problem. I disabled all service but for those for Windows, and disabled all startup application softwares, but still the repair install failed. The OS was originally W7. I do not...

Power Options Menu - Add or Remove Sleep or Hibernate in Windows 8

Hello Brink, I always amazed with your reply in lightening speed!! What I did which I do not normally do is removing pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys before upgrading(in-place) to W8.1. I restored the hiberfil.sys but no effect on the problem.

Power Options Menu - Add or Remove Sleep or Hibernate in Windows 8

I have no "Sleep" option problem and followed the instructions but after the step 3 I got the following which is different from that shown in the instructions. What could be wrong with my W8.1?

Solved Photo streamed from PC is 1/4 of TV screen

My conclusion as to the cause of my problem is as follows: 1. It has nothing to do with resolution of the source image nor the TV screen. 2. It has nothing to do with the software involved at the DLNA server: The software funcions merely to send out the image information and has no control over...

Solved Photo streamed from PC is 1/4 of TV screen

If the photo of 4912p resolution is displayed in the native resolution on the 2160p screen, doesn't part of the image go out of the screen?

Solved Photo streamed from PC is 1/4 of TV screen

What you are saying is contradictory to what are shown on the pictures previously posted.: Their resolution are vastly different or 1200p and 4912p, yet the displayed sizes are the same. The width is different because their aspect ratio is not the same.

Solved Photo streamed from PC is 1/4 of TV screen

As I clearly stated in my thread starter post there is no such problem when streaming video. I tried various videos and they were always displayed on full screen weather they are 4K or not.

Solved Photo streamed from PC is 1/4 of TV screen

Sorry for this late reply. Just back from trip to attend emergency. The problem symptom is the same when the image is streamed from a 8 years old notebook with Intel T7200 CPU and 950 graphic. which appears to indicate the hardwares at the transmitting end has nothing to do with the problem...
