We are getting off topic on an already resolved thread but for the record, registry cleaners today are what snake oil was in the 19th century. There is no _measurable_ improvement in removing so called registry junk. More likely, it will cause a problem if registry entry required by your...
Your link points to Context Menu Tuner which appears to be freeware. I just tested it.
Whereas this freeware ShellMenuNew - Disable/enable 'New' menu items in Windows Explorer
correctly displays that .txt files are an option in my righclick menu, the Context Menu Tuner does not.
So I would...
I was not able to find any other program that can do this, pay-for DisplayFusion can do this and interestingly instructions on how to do this were not available until today, I had to contact the author.
I wrote notes on how it is done:
To have a single wallpaper on Monitor 1 and Random...
You are correct, Windows 8 only has an either/or setting. Third party software is required.
I haven't been able to find any freeware that would allow Slide Show on Monitor 1 and Single Picture on Monitor 2. DisplayFusion freeware doesn't have this feature but DisplayFusion Pro does, I just...
topgundcp, thank you for posting detailed instructions on how to locate the correct subkey in registry containing the information which needs to be deleted in order to remove items from Right Click > New menu.
What if there were twenty right click menu items, or perhaps fifty? What if there...
I spent the entire morning looking for the easy software solution and still have not found it. But to address the above posts:
1. I've seen many threads talking about CCleaner, which I have and use. CCLeaner and many other programs list general Right Click options, not Right Click > New...
I've used TweakUI since Windows 9x to easily remove Right Click New items, for example, all MS Office entries pictured below.
TweakUI 64-Bit does not work on Windows 8 and so-called Tweak software like Ultimate Windows Tweaker lack this feature. Programs such as ShellMenuView do not clearly...
Thank you for helping me establish that this happens on every system and not just mine. There is the side effect of Content View option not being fully restored then. Some people may not think this is a big deal, but it ruins the music folder view. I have my entire CD collection transferred to...
Thank you for doing that. So now to get to the bottom of this, to first define correct vs incorrect (as I see it):
Correct display, the way things should be is your screenshot labeled "after using the Enable_Windows_8_Explorer_Auto_Arrange.bat"
Incorrect display is the one above that.
The...
Thank you. If it's not too much trouble, using a system on which the patch was applied and on which
View > Options > View TAB > Apply to Folders > Yes > OK
was run,
would you post a small screen shot of Content view of a folder with only music files in it?
Shawn,
Having a partition image of Windows 8 before applying this patch allowed me to test it three times to confirm that Auto-arrange is indeed disabled globally after applying the patch.
Now the triple tested downsides, which made me want to not apply the patch to my permanent Win8 image...
I have reimaged my system back to retest and confirm.
1. On a fresh system, I should say on my Windows 8 fresh system, applying the patch globally disables auto arrange. The moment you go to View > Options > View TAB > Apply to Folders, after you do that, auto arrange is no longer globally...
