I found a workaround with the problem. I rebooted the computer that I was attempting to connect FROM. After that, everything worked. I know .. weird .. :/

It's odd because it works fine when I try to connect to my Windows 8 laptop from my Windows 7 desktop.

I have an Asus motherboard model P5KC. I tried the Windows-provided graphic driver as well as the one from AMD's site; no difference. It's rather odd that if the issue is with the graphics card itself I would experience intermittent issues, but the system only crashes when waking up from sleep.
