Solved Is anyone on here happy with windows 8?

I think you are spot on, though I think its as much about the windows store.

Windows 8, I’m warming up to you

Not in my opinion. As they dont share the same bookmarks and settings. And this is big let down: with W8 you have to syngronize you settings manually (not between two pc's but) between two UI's in two different control panels. This is also true for email etc.

    I'm impressed!

My advice at this point: dont buy a license of windows 8 for lets say € 100,00 buy a nice SSD for 100,00 and put windows 7 on it and you be a happy camper for the coming years!

Windows 8 beats Windows 7 in most performance tests

What a way to present numbers. It looks twice as fast in the graph, but really only .14 percent point. Looks deliberate to me :(

    Here's what's wrong with Windows 8

The one thing that keeps annoying me is that if you like metro, all is fine. But when you dislike metro, you are wrong! Imo metro is good move for touch devices, but is very limited for serious desktop use (non touch). It is not a surprise for me to find MS using its market share in desktop...

Windows 8 will be 'largely irrelevant' to traditional PC users: IDC

I think MS could make something out of Metro on the desktop by making it more a transparent layer on top of the desktop: something like launchpad on OSX. When combining the glass of aero and the tiles of metro MS could present a more logical and unified W8. A kind of HUD would be a move in the...

Windows 8 will be 'largely irrelevant' to traditional PC users: IDC

Why does this "Start Screen" exist at all? It could have been a simple task enabled from the desktop, couldn't it? If one wanted to see their "Metro-style" apps, one could have clicked on an appropriate icon on the desktop to see them. Or they could have been pinned on the desktop. Microsoft...

Windows 8 will be 'largely irrelevant' to traditional PC users: IDC

What ADRz says make a lot of sense to me. Why would a enterprise upgrade from W7 to W8, only to disable the metro interface and be left with what is basicly W7? Why doesn't MS go the same route as apple and google and offer a WP7 tablet version? Makes so much more sense. In the end "windows"...
