Solved Just started to use Macrium Reflect v6 Free

Thanks for the link Cliff S, much as I expected but it is good to cover it again. Steve C, thank you for that also, i have usually used incremental but in future I may well use differential instead. I plan to do one full then a diff and than a full. I have a 500gb esata disc so I should have...

Solved Just started to use Macrium Reflect v6 Free

Cliff does that mean a differential backup made using the Reflect Image D could fail or did you mean if I used my own User ID? I'm using the free version. In any case I would only use one full and two incrementals at a time as I don't like long versions anyway. Thanks Mark, noted!

Solved Just started to use Macrium Reflect v6 Free

Ah, how did I miss that? Just tired I guess! If I then use my own image ID, starting with Full, then Differential, presumably that ID will continue to be used for all subsequent images?? Thank you strollin and and Cliff S

Solved Just started to use Macrium Reflect v6 Free

After many years of using Acronis True Image I'm ditching it as I'm fed up with the scheduler2 problem. I use Win 8.1 Home so I don't have GPEDIT so cannot apply the patch given elsewhere. Anyway, I just managed to restore an image of my C:\ system drive, but what I don't like is the way...

Solved Win 8.1 Slow Boot and Startup

Hi, I use IOBit Start Menu 8, I don't know if that causes the same problem as the MS version. Maybe I will remove it and see.

    KB3000850 woe, woe!

Once it showed up in my installed updates as successful I just told it to hide KB3000850 to stop it being offered each time. I think it was an optional update anyway.

    Internet Explorer History all gone.

    Thanks topgundcp!

    KB3000850 woe, woe!

Hmmm. On the basis that it was classed as 'Optional' I think I will let it ride and see what happens! Thanks for all the help Brink, I'm obliged to you.

    Internet Explorer History all gone.

Not really crashed! I ran Advanced System Care to give the laptop a tune-up but it must have cleared out History even though I had unticked the IE boxes.:( I did three Restores, going back last 3 days, but none of them recovered the History, apart from today's History. I can get into Macrium...

    KB3000850 woe, woe!

There was no error message, apart from telling me not to turn off computer while it was configuring update, then after a few reboots it said that the update had failed and it was reverting. This applies to every failure to instal this update.

    KB3000850 woe, woe!

In Installed Updates all I have are two 'copies' of KB3000850 and nothing else. But if I go to Uninstall an Update I have a load of KB's etc. but no KB3000850! I kept checking for updates but there were none offered apart from 3000850 again so I'm not really sure where I'm at! I already tried...

    Internet Explorer History all gone.

My wife's netbook came a cropper and she has now lost all her History. Luckily, I took a Macrium Reflect image this morning, but I now need to know where the IE History files are kept in Windows 8 (not 8.1). I clicked in Folder Options to show hidden files but according to info I got on the web...

    KB3000850 woe, woe!

Yes, done that already. When it says there are two successfil updates for the same KB I assume the fault there is in the notification, only one update occurred. Checked updates just now, nothing offered. My wife's netbook is doing similar things, refusing to complete the update so I will...

    KB3000850 woe, woe!

Well this is weird. I used your 3 Reset fixes in turn, the last one being the 3 in 1. The first two made no difference. The third one did a lot of 'stuff' and I then d/loaded and installed 3000850 again while I was having a meal. I came back to see my desktop showing but Firefox had locked up. I...

    KB3000850 woe, woe!

I've spent all day trying to get this KB installed. The thing is, even though I'm told it has failed after configuring and reverting back again, when I look in the Installed updates list is says that it was successful. And it offers to download it again for me! I don't use Avast, I use Webroot...
