I believe I may have had to disable UEFI in order to boot from USB (also needed to disable the fast boot option and manually bump up the USB boot order on each reboot). If you do need to disable UEFI, just re-enable it on the first reboot.

I did get this to work, same ID, and for my partition size on my laptop I set 4396, as this was the default on the Windows 7 install which shipped with IRST. Perhaps I wasn't restarting the PC after doing diskpart.

Yes I removed all the old partitions from my drive and did a clean install. There was a large useless recovery partition there. I'm sure whatever needs to be enabled in the BIOS is already enabled, since I didn't disable anything before installing Windows 8.
