Microsoft: "Metro" out, "Windows 8-style UI" in

"Metro-sexual" is so 2005. Anyways, I could care less what they call it, it still sucks and is 10 steps backwards for the Windows OS.

This will be Microsofts biggest ever flop, far bigger than Vista.

It's like going back to Windows 3.1's Program Manager except it looks much uglier and is less intuitive with its forced full screen navigation.

My Windows 9 predictions IF Windows 8 is a success...

If Windows 8 is a success and consumers give Microsoft the green light to keep going this direction, here are some things we can look forward to in Windows 9. -No more separate Home/Pro/RT versions. Just one Windows 9 for everybody for simplicity -All applications run full screen -Complete...

    Its Not really that bad!!

The really sad truth is that the PRO version of Windows 8 includes the same dumbing down that the home version includes. A great compromise for Microsoft would be to metro-ize the home version but include choice in the pro version.

The worst thing since Microsoft Bob: What is MS thinking?

Agreed. If Metro was so great and such an amazing step forward as Windows 8 defenders claim, then Microsoft could include it as an optional feature and wouldn't have to worry about people not using it. They could do just like they did in the Windows 95 days, when they included a fully...

The worst thing since Microsoft Bob: What is MS thinking?

This is exactly why Microsoft should really consider splitting its business-oriented and consumer-oriented product line again like it was back in the 9x/NT days. Have a fully functional, fully configurable OS for business and power users and a dumbed-down one for consumers. The current model...

The worst thing since Microsoft Bob: What is MS thinking?

Completely agreed. Microsoft SHOULD give us the option of a classic interface without having to install a third party app. Another thing to point out is while we MAY (this is up for debate) be moving into a world in the future where tablets and smartphones are the dominant computing devices...

The worst thing since Microsoft Bob: What is MS thinking?

I am not sure how many people here are old enough to remember Microsoft Bob, but it has gone down in history as one of the worst Microsoft products and worst interface blunders of all time. Now, imagine if in 1996, Microsoft decided to ship a version of Windows that included Bob as the default...

What will it take to convince businesses and power users to ditch XP?

Windows Vista and 7 were both packed with new features primarily targeted towards consumers. While your average home user has embraced 7, businesses and power users are still as in love with XP as they ever were. Microsoft needs to unveil some new functionality in Windows 8 that will win over...
