Win 8.1 64Bit Pro
I'm using RoboCopy to copy files to a different HDD's. (Once/If the copy has successfully completed, I delete the source files.)
Anyway, the RC cmd is:
RoboCopy "D:\Documentaries" "F:\Documentaries" /E /COPY:DAT /DCOPY:T /Z /MT:4 /R:1 /W:10...
However, you have to convert the window ESD to a WIM 1st, there are instructions on their forum on how to do this.**
The free version allows basic additions & changes.
I used the free version to add the Intel network drivers to a new Win8.1 PC I built late...
Gort, You have exactly the same questions & suspicions that I was trying to find answers to ... and failed so far.
I to would like to know if KB3075853 has anything to do with Win10 and like yourself, I have no intention to move to Win10 for at least the next 6 months.
Oops ... typo, should be...
Thanks Brink & Mooly ... it seems that the GWX app is more than simply a "notification" pgm.
I had previously uninstalled KB3035583 & then MS re-released it so I have it hidden.
I have downloaded the Disable_Get_Windows_10.reg file & will apply it to all my PC's.
For a variety of reasons, such as, no WMC in Win10, I want to block or prevent Windows Update from offering to upgrade all of my PC's; at least in the short term, to Win10.
I have 3 desktop PC's running Win8.1 Pro 64bit, 1 running Win7 Ultimate & a Surface Pro 3 running Win8.1 Pro 64bit...
Not unless Windows did a "system" backup itself & from my experience it causes too many other problems, given that a "system" backup is not really a proper backup. Personally I would only do a system restore in an emergency.
However, I did a full system backup using Macrium Reflect before...
Oh dear, I thought I would never have to come back to this thread.
For 11 months, almost to the day since I last did a full re-install of Windows 8.1.1 (6th June 2014), my PC has been sleeping just fine.
Over that time in terms of hardware, networked devices, etc. nothing has changed. I can...
I'm not surprised that it's not just the personalisation features ... it's just that they were immediately obvious when the windows desktop opened after the install. As soon as I established a network; the default MS network drivers don't work for Intel network adapters, I activated windows.
Thanks. I installed Win 8.1 from a WIMCT created ISO using the generic key but after installation I lost all the personalisation settings (screen colour, etc.) that I selected during the install. Couldn't change these until I activated windows; which it did without any issues. This is very...
For Windows 8.1 ISO's that you could D/L *prior* to the new "Windows Installation Media Creation Tool" method you had to use a generic key for the installation & then activate windows with a Windows 8 key.
Is this still true for installing Windows from ISO's created by the MS WIMCT or can...
The original install.esd file extracted from the latest ISO D/L'd from MS using Media Creation Tool.
I converted this to install.wim & using NTLite added some missing drivers; in particular, the drivers for the Intel Network adapter and ONLY the extra drivers. I tried to create an ISO via...
Thanks for this but I'm afraid CreateWin didn't work for me.
1st DISM failed ... couldn't find MediaMeta.xml in ISOFOLDER.
I added it & then restarted the script, which seemed to restart OK but then failed with access denied for everything that DISM was trying to copy/process.
Hmm ... I'm now not sure if it was enabling 'Nearby Devcices' on my Sammy S4 or maybe it was and ALSO Google Chromecast.
My daughter has a Chromecast that she uses on her TV to cast videos from her phone (another Sammy S4) or PC. I had the Google Chromecast extension installed on my PC for...
